We survived the first batch of vaccinations combo today. It was thus a hard day of tears and screaming. However it ended nicely.

I realized the other day that I got a black and white book from my friend [i.e. Aunt Nina] a few years back and that babies supposedly love black and white books. Well, ours surely does – he likes to look at it and we can actually use it to distract him when he fusses.

Laurent also explained to Piotr how French is easier than Polish, when I said “jeden kot“, “wiele kotów“, “trzy koty” and he translated it to French as “un chat“, “plusieurs chats” and “trois chats” (where the pronunciation of the word chat(s) is exactly the same).

In the meantime, I’m also reading him Peter Pan and we’re almost done – Captain James Hook is dead and the kids are on their way home.

With a special dedication to my grandma who keeps on asking: is he smiling yet? Well yes, he is.

It’s not the first time he’s done it and it’s not the best picture, but there! I finally managed to catch him.

Unlike me, my son is not a big fan of naps.

Sometimes he’ll pass out for 10 minutes, but mostly he won’t sleep and then he’ll be grumpy about it. However, there are some methods to make him sleep. He will commit to a longer nap, under certain circumstances:

1) with me

2) on me

3) on my boob

4) on my arm

The other is more into blue elephants, green frogs and mirrors…

…and his hands are fast like the wind!

We just received a new scarf to carry Piotr. We still need a little bit of practice but he will suffer less from the Toulousian heat.

Or he can just use it as a doudou for sleeping.

We’re getting an ID for Piotr so that he can fly! I went with him to have his picture taken… I had to bounce him in the air, hold his head and be invisible. His job was to look straight and keep his mouth closed…

So this happens: Piotr starts to be interested in things. He likes his nursery mobile and follows its movements.

Happy times!

 

However, the mobiles simplicity has a downside. It doesn’t move on its own. It needs a hamster (or a mother) to swirl it. And every time it stops, Piotr tries to restart it. When that fails, he just screams until I come and give it a push.
